Overview

"Active Again", originally built as" Oystercatcher XXVII", is from the drawing board of Humphreys Yacht Design and built with no-expense-spared attitude by Hakes Marine in NZ.

Although grand-prix in her specification throughout, she is more rugged and offshore orientated than the likes of the TP and with her hydraulically lifting keel, it means she can access a lot of harbours that others cant.
The owner is selling with immediate effect and offers are highly recommended, with a serious chance of securing some very exciting yachting, at very friendly prices!!

Build

Beautifully built by Hakes Marine, "Active Again" (Originally Oystercatcher XXVIII) features full carbon pre-preg construction from direct female hull and deck moulds.
With a varied race program, including Hobart, Key West Race Week, The Caribbean 600, Cowes Week, The Fastnet and Middle Sea Races, Active Again was designed with full offshore capability in mind.
With engineering by Pure Design & Engineering, the foam cored hull shell offers significant toughness for a slight IRC benefit, while deck and internal structures are of nomex honeycomb cores.
Central to the design is a hydraulically operated lifting keel allowing draft to be reduced from 3.85m to 2.5 metres.

As a result of the hydraulic driven lifting keel, a number of sail controls and functions are also hydraulically operated. The striking interior with its mix of white painted and clear coat carbon detailing, is comfortable and functional for offshore racing. With some clever concealment of the hydraulic system, the interior is free of the clutter you would otherwise expect on a grand prix racing yacht. The interior includes a fully functional galley, heads compartment, crew lockers and a seated nav station.

Construction:
o Hull and deck shells constructed from carbon prepreg/ glue films/ honeycomb cores and Corecell foam in the slamming region as specified by design engineers.
o Bulkheads and longitudinal constructed from carbon prepreg/ glue films/ honeycomb cores as specified by design engineers. Bonding of all primary structures in carbon.
o Secondary structures including galley, head vanity & toilet base, cabin soles, lockers, navigation table in lightweight infused epoxy panels using E-glass cloths and structural PVC foam. Galley, navigation, saloon table and vanity working tops finished in high gloss clear coated carbon.

Broker Comments

A proven IRC performer, particularly offshore...... If the TP 52 seems like too big a leap into the unknown, then this could be the boat for you, as she is that little bit more durable and forgiving. Similar interior arrangement to the Cookson 50 and certainly well priced.
