450

Launched at the beginning of the 2011 model year, the 450 brings flybridge catamaran sailing right up to date. This is a new multihull design with a host of fresh ideas. The ergonomocs are fantastic, with flush hatches, flat side decks and broad radius GRP mouldings. The flybridge is extended in both width and depth and now accommodates a sunlounging area beneath the boom. The wheel and the column for the the steering cable has been moved to starboard, opening up the transition from cockpit to saloon below. Cunningly, a trapdoor of the flybridge not only ventilates the aft cockpit but provides a clear view of the port transom - a handy parking tool.

She feels very similar to her predecessor, the Lagoon 440, in many respects, with the increased dimensions naturally providing a slightly more solid, quiet feel. She doesn't take much to get her up to speed, even in the lighter winds when the square top mainsail will be a bonus.

The Nauta interior takes Lagoon to a whole new level of fit and finish, with modern and sophisticated touches everywhere: recessed LED lighting, modern angular trims, soft closing cabinets and stainless fittings. A choice of light oak or teak colour interior is available. Overall, the 450 has been designed as a space in which you can voyage and live very comfortably indeed. A proper boat outside and a proper home inside, what more do we need?
