The annual Round the Island race around the Isle of Wight took place on the 19th June 2010, organised by the Island Sailing Club. It is one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs.
The event attracted 1,754 entries this year to follow the 50 nautical mile course around the Isle of Wight.
The race is split into two main classes, ISC (Island Sailing Club) Rating Division & IRC Rating Division.
Out of 869 entries 822 yachts finished in the ISC class of this years race and included notably an Oyster 62, 56, 54 & 51, a Discovery 55, a Swan 47 and an X412 as well as a mix of numerous production cruisers racers.
Conditions were pretty much ideal with a light North / North Easterly wind and bright sunshine at the start. The wind built steadily all day reaching around 16 - 18 knots as the yachts sailed around the back of the Isle of Wight before finishing off the entrance of Cowes.
Finishing in 6hrs 54 minutes Osprey won the Lloyds Bank Trophy for the First ISC Rating system boat to finish.
She also collected the Crankshaw Bowl for Overall Winner in ISC Group 4 and came 1st in ISC Class 4A.
After a brilliant victory in 2009, this second win of Mr Nickolas Imregi’s CNB Bordeaux 60 confirms the boat’s speed potential in various wind conditions.
The Bordeaux 60 is a prestigious custom made CNB yacht first launched in 2008. She boasts naval design by Philippe Briand and interior ergonomics and design by Hugon Couedel Design.
