Beneteau 21s in a Class of their Own
They may be on the smaller side of the Beneteau range, but they’re growing in stature, strengthening in numbers and their commitment is huge! The Beneteau First 21 Solent Class aims to promote a Solent class fleet for Beneteau 21’s of all ages.
Kirsten Percival who is absolutely passionate about her own Beneteau 21, ‘Arwen’ and keen to share her enthusiasm with other likeminded owners, has set up the classes’ website…
Kirsten told us there is no membership fee to join, and the website is all about providing an information portal that brings together ‘fellow 21’ers’ . It has proved invaluable when organising racing against one another, cruising together, setting up social events, posting useful information, and generally enabling the fleet to share their common interests and experiences. So far they have received hits and visits from as far away as Japan!
Last year the class held its inaugural Solent Beneteau Fist 21 championships. Run by the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, the event was hailed as a great success with 5 boats entering and a fantastic time was enjoyed by all. It is Kirsten’s mission to increase and grow these numbers this year. With over 2,300 Beneteau 21’s sailing worldwide, and a very impressive number already entered into the JP Morgan Round the Island Race, we have no doubt Kirsten will see numbers increasing at a fairly swift rate this summer and wish everyone involved, all the very best.
