The Lagoon 52, marks a whole new era in the design of cruising catamarans, as indeed did its predecessor, the famed Lagoon 500.
With its diamond-shaped vertical bows, bevelled hulls, its as if levitated deckhouse and tall rig, the Lagoon 52 is no ordinary catamaran, but its originality goes a great deal further than just its "outer" appearance, or even its interior layout.
This Lagoon is the result of lengthy discussions between the architects at Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the Italian Nauta Design agency and the Lagoon design department. These discussions led us to make some important and sometimes radical choices, while remaining faithful to what we believe in, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, user friendliness and, it goes without saying, performance under sail.
The Lagoon 52 S is accessed via large aft transoms facilitating boarding and disembarking. There are broad sidedecks, with recessed deck hatches and the cockpit is level with the saloon with an outdoor lounge and sun-lounging area to starboard. The cabin-top design creates a more elegant and punchier roof outline.
There is a large sunbathing area on the cabintop and the sail areas are the same with the FlyBridge version. However, the lower mast and boom reduces pitching and makes the boom easier to access.
The cabintop bulkhead fitted steering position includes the following has integrated helm station seat comfortable for 2 persons. There is access from the cockpit and the sidedeck with an optional extra safety system with a tilting composite beam to close off the steering station in bad weather. A composite bimini above steering area is available as an option.
The saloon encompasses the lounge and dining table to starboard, a large galley forming a "U" to port the chart table in the middle, facing out to sea. The “U” galley is equipped with large hot plates with large work space and plenty of storage. The circulation in the salon is optimised, between the lounge and the galley. All the cabins have large double beds with storage space to match the offshore sailing program of the boat and, of course, an en-suite bathroom with separate shower. The cabins have natural lighting thanks to the fixed hull windows, together with excellent ventilation thanks to the deck hatches and portholes that open out to the hull-side or to the cockpit.
Graham has worked in the marine industry since qualifying as a marine engineer ’94, after which he ran the yacht sales and charter management division of a large charter company for 13 years.
During this time Graham saw the explosion in popularity of catamaran sailing at first hand, so jumped at the opportunity to specialise in multihull sales for Ancasta in 2007. He has raced and cruised extensively on cats and monos of all kinds and has enjoyed two transatlantic crossings.

Stephen previously served as Chairman of ABYA’s Mediterranean branch and has a wealth of contacts around the world, he has lived in the Middle and Far East as well as Moscow, Athens, France and Mallorca before settling back in London. A keen sailor since University Stephen and his family are active sailors and have had a wide range of boats including Beneteau, Jeanneau, Oyster, Bavaria a couple of long keeled classics as well as a variety of RIBs in the UK and Mediterranean.
Mike Wedge is the brokerage manager for Ancasta Brighton. Having have been on the Lagoon team for a good number of years he has been sailing since he was 4 years old, and since then his involvement with yacht design, tuition and sailing holidays to name a few, have taken him all over the world.
Mike loves the concept of catamaran sailing and considers it a great way to cruise in comfort with space to take all the provisions and toys whilst still having room to relax. He has been on several good delivery trips aboard the Lagoons, including deliveries from the Lagoon factory to Southampton, which always proves an invaluable learning experience and Mike has a very sound and detailed knowledge of the product.
