Ancasta unveils Fairlie 55 at Cannes Boat Show

Ancasta is delighted to be showcasing the first Fairlie 55 at the 2011 Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show from 6th-11th September 2011 following the new yacht’s recent successful sea trials. The Fairlie 55 is the first in the new ‘Spirit of Tradition’ class of quality sailing yachts constructed to the highest specification combining elegant classic styling with the latest advances in marine engineering and performance. Alastair Shove of Ancasta Yachts, the exclusive international sales agents for the Fairlie 55, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the first Fairlie 55 here at the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show. Cannes provides a perfect backdrop for this new modern classic and offers discerning buyers and media representatives the chance to preview her exquisite style and quality first hand.” After the show, the Fairlie 55 will remain in Cannes to offer bespoke tours and sails to a select few ahead of her attendance at the world-renowned Régates Royales which takes place in the stunning Bay of Cannes between 19th-25th September 2011. Having celebrated its 150th anniversary last year, the Yacht Club de Cannes will welcome the Fairlie 55 along with some of some of the world’s most beautiful classic yachts and the Dragon one-design keelboat fleet. Fairlie’s Chief Designer, Paul Spooner, and others involved in the build of this modern classic will be attending at the Cannes International Yacht & Boat Show to share their insight into the new yacht’s journey from the drawing board to reality. “With its rich yachting history, Cannes is the perfect place to launch the Fairlie 55. It’s been a privilege to oversee the build of such a beautiful yacht and we’re looking forward to unveiling her here and putting her through her paces in the Bay of Cannes after the show,” Spooner said. Located in the prime location of Quai Saint Pierre (berth no 124) for the duration of the six-day show, visitors, media and potential buyers will have the opportunity to preview the yacht in a truly magnificent setting. With 80,000 m² of exhibition space, the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show is Europe’s most prestigious on-the-water event attracting more than 54,000 visitors from all over the world. The Fairlie 55 was constructed by highly-skilled craftsmen using the finest quality materials at Fairlie’s premises on the Hamble River in the UK. To view images and footage documenting the Fairlie 55’s build and sea trials visit The Spirit of Tradition yachts will comprise the Fairlie 55, the Fairlie 66, the Fairlie 78 and the Fairlie 110.
