Ancasta Motorboat Club Cruise 2016

A fantastic long weekend was enjoyed by the owners and crews taking part in this year’s Ancasta Motorboat Club Cruise.

All boats gathered in Yarmouth Harbour throughout the afternoon on Friday before making their way to The Hut in Colwell Bay for sundowners and supper. The plan was to journey together across the channel to Guernsey and despite the beautiful sunset, the forecast was for fog. To complicate proceedings further, in-order to be able to get over the sill at the proposed destination there was going to be time pressure!

An early start on Saturday revelled calm seas and brighter than expected conditions so the going was good. As we drew nearer to Guernsey the murk thickened testing the navigators radar skills, however visibility never dropped below half a mile allowing the full passage to be completed in four hours. Once into Victoria Marina in St Peter Port and moored up – everyone relaxed into the weekend involving pontoon drinks and 48 hours of eating, drinking and exploring. On Sunday evening we all took the ferry to the Island of Herm for a final dinner together in the Mermaid before the journey back to the Solent on Monday. Once we had enough water to leave the marina it was a bumpy five hours with northerlies lifting the sea state and testing the skippers diving skills back to the UK South coast.

More pictures can be seen here and thanks again to all those who took part.

There is a Swift Trawler Rendezvous planned in August and we will be having an end of season BBQ in October as usual so if you would like to get involved or for more information about the Ancasta Motorboat Club – see here.
