Like so many other industries and businesses, the last six months have been a challenging time for the Marine Trade, particularly boat sales however not to the extent we would have expected with both Cannes and Southampton boat shows being surprisingly successful for both Ancasta and Beneteau Group. Clearly the spate of new product being launched by our manufacturers has been well received with Ancasta’s new boat dealerships for Beneteau Sail, Beneteau Power, Prestige Luxury Motor Yachts and Lagoon Catamarans all having their best Southampton Boat Show in many years.
In other areas, such as brokerage and service, we have seen solid activity on all fronts and demand appears to be growing. Despite the broader uncertainties around, there is still a very large group of boat enthusiasts who enjoy their boating and will continue to pursue their pastime come what may. Ancasta continues to serve these folk while also working hard to encourage more to join in an activity we are passionate about.
One event this year that has highlighted the benefits of boating and has helped to feed that passion, has been Ancasta’s involvement in sourcing, modifying and supplying yet another new Beneteau built Oceanis 45 to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. This is a charity many of us have admired over a long period of time for the wonderful work they do and Ancasta is delighted and proud to have some involvement with EMCT, continuing to support the Trust‘s two new yachts, helping the EMCT to continue their work for so many children. Should you see one of these sky-blue yachts plying the West Coast of Scotland or the Solent, please do give them a wave.
The Autumn Brokerage market has been strong. It has been UK buyers who have been contributing to this as opposed to Euro based buyers who were expected to be capitalising on Sterling’s recent weakness. It does appear our ever-improving team of brokers supported by Ancasta’s outstanding infrastructure are doing a fabulous job with Ancasta selling in excess of 500 boats last year, both power and sail, to buyers from all over the world.
To maintain this momentum in these uncertain times, our focus has been on investing in service, both pre-sale and post-sale. The Group‘s office network, combined with HYS RR and Advanced Rigging & Hydraulics, provides Ancasta with unparalleled capability to support and service our customers throughout their boat owning lives. Our Sales team continue to look at ways of improving their service and the endorsements from Vendors and Buyers complimenting our team continue to be received.
We hope you enjoy what is inside this Collection. It is full of wonderful boats, both new and used as well as some great articles on boating technology we are sure you will find interesting.
To chase away the dark winter days don’t forget about the forthcoming Paris Boat Show on from 3-11 December as well as the forthcoming London Boat Show on from 6 -15 January 2017 followed by Düsseldorf which runs a little later from 21 – 29 January.
As the year draws to a close, we wish you and yours compliments of the season and wishes for a prosperous 2017.
MD, Ancasta Group.
